The department offers courses in the five major areas of chemistry:
analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical.

Students completing the undergraduate degree are well-prepared to begin a career or advanced study in chemistry or related disciplines. In addition to serving chemistry majors, the department offers courses for students in premedicine, predentistry, biology, dietetics, earth sciences, physics, education, and cooperative engineering programs. Introductory courses present the principles and applications of chemistry to non-science majors. The chemistry program is approved by the Committee on Professional Training of the American Chemical Society.
