University Faculty Senator's Corner
The State University of New York, College at Oneonta College Senate is the representative body through which the faculty participate in College affairs and shared governance. The College Senate shall provide a forum for the campus community to participate in the initiation, development, and implementation of the educational mission of the College. The Senate is empowered to act for the Faculty of the State University College at Oneonta in all matters, procedures, and prerogatives reserved to said Faculty in its meetings.
The College Senate will soon be taking action on the draft version of the new Action Plan for Planning and Assessment that has been drafted by Patty Francis, Associate Provost for Institutional Assessment and Effectiveness. The College Senate will be discussing the Distance Learning Policy at the October 6th meeting. A draft version of the new Distance Learning Policy was presented to the College Senate on Monday, April 14th. To view the draft click on the above link. On April 28th, the Council of Chairs presented a resolution to the College Senate regarding Faculty consulation and involvement with respect to the Faculty Handbook. Follow this link to review the resolution as modified at the meeting. The resolution will be reviewed further this Fall.
The College Senate passed a resolution at the March 31st College Senate Meeting recommending the College terminate its participation in the Volunteer System of Accountability (VSA) until adequate consultation is had with the College Faculty. The College Senate passed a resolution at the March 31st College Senate Meeting recommending the College change the way our campus will assess Critical Thinking as part of SUNY's Strengthened Campus Based Assessment by using the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA ).
