Programs

The Department of Sociology offers several programs for students interested in Sociology. Each program is designed to provide the student with a well rounded education that emphasizes the importance of critical thought and intellectual growth. The programs are also designed with a student's future goals in mind.

Sociology (Traditional)

A traditional Sociology program with a liberal arts focus.  Interested in social change and activism?  Research maybe?  Or simply looking for a solid education with versatility for down the road? This is our oldest and most versatile major and minor.

Sociology (Human Services)

A Sociology major with an interdisciplinary twist oriented toward those who wish to work in Human Services or continue their education with a Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree.  A good pre-professional choice.

Criminal Justice

A Criminal Justice major and minor with a liberal arts orientation.  A good choice for those interested in pursuing careers in the criminal justice system or continuing their education down the road.

Gerontology Studies

A specialized program that studies personal and policy issues involved with the aging process, it offers a highly personal experience and is great for those interested in working with or studying the elderly.
