Telephone Service Problems

  1. Check that you are plugged into the proper port.  To find the active telephone port in your room:

    • Find the network box on the left side of your room by looking out your window and turning to your left.

    • Your telephone service port is the left port of this network box.

      • NOTE: Do not look at symbols or icons on the network boxes in your room to determine what services are in a particular port.

  2. Check service with another telephone.

    • Check using a non-cordless phone.  If you do not have a non-cordless phone, try borrowing one from a friend.

  3. Contact Telecommunications to report the problem.  If reporting your problem via e-mail, please provide the following information:

    • Name of resident experiencing the problem

    • Building and room number

    • Description of problem

Cable TV Service Problems

  1. If you have no signal:

    • Check all your connections.
    • Try a different coaxial cable between the Cable TV service port and your TV.
    • Try a different TV.
  2. If you only have channels 2 through 13:

    • Your TV must be set to CATV mode.  Check your TV instructions regarding programming.  Often, this is accomplished via your TV's remote control.

  3. Contact Telecommunications to report the problem.  If reporting your problem via e-mail, please provide the following information:

    • Name of resident experiencing the problem

    • Building and room number

    • Description of problem

Computer Service Problems

  1. Check that you are plugged into the proper port.

    • Ethernet service ports are located on both sides of the room in the right ports of the network boxes.

      • NOTE: Do not look at symbols or icons on the network boxes in your room to determine what services are in a particular port.

  2. Check that your Ethernet cable is good.

    • Try a different Ethernet cable.
