Services
CECD services help link the human and physical resources of the College
with business and community organizations to promote economic and community
development. The CECD coordinates a wide array of resources and
services for the purpose of linking education, research and public service including:
Leadership Training
This participatory model taps networks to use knowledge of the Otsego County community in collaborative problem-solving. Leaders in a changing environment must inspire others so they may lead as well.
Grants Writing
- NYS Office of Small Cities
- NYS Emergency Management Office
The CECD has researched and written several successful grant applications on behalf of Oneonta area municipalities and non-profit organizations totalling $1.5 million.
Community & Organization Surveys
- Oneonta, Cooperstown, Hartwick, Delhi, Sidney, Maryland, Unadilla, Bainbridge
- Businesses & Non-profits
- Educational Institutions
Planning and in-field survey assistance using a variety of methods such as
focus groups, mail surveys, telephone surveys, and interview-based surveys. These help in preparing strategic plans and
assessing public opinion about key concerns or initiatives.
Downtown Economic Development
Working primarily with the City of Oneonta, the CECD has provided insight and analysis for this traditional business district, including a strategic plan and subsequent merchant surveys.
Meeting and Project Facilitation
- Businesses & Non-profits
- Municipalities
- Concerned Citizens Groups
Facilitate
meetings off campus or on campus in the excellent meeting, lodging, and
catering facilities of the Morris Conference Center. Productive sessions draw on the skills of
CECD staff to plan and conduct special meetings and staff retreats.
Organization Development
Use research-based methods to help people in organizations learn to solve problems by seeing and seizing opportunities, and to constantly improve this process.
