A scholarship becomes endowed and is awarded when the principal reaches $25,000, and a fund becomes endowed and utilized when the principle reaches $10,000. There are several ways to make a gift to endow a scholarship or fund, and you can view a list of options here. Contributions made by a donor for an endowed scholarship are prudently invested and managed by the College at Oneonta Foundation. Once the scholarship or fund is endowed and can be utilized, five percent of the earnings are expended each year, while the principal is preserved and grows so that the scholarship or fund will be awarded in perpetuity.
