Grants Development Office

Grants Development Office Services

We offer all the services listed below and we can probably help you in other ways as well.
Feel free to ask.

Funding Searches

Appropriate sponsors are identified for specific projects. This is best accomplished by potential proposal writers working with the Grants Development Office during the early stages of proposal development and providing a clear working idea of the project.  A good resource for proposal writers is The Grant Advisor Plus website.

Assistance in Proposal Development

While the staff does not write proposals for an individual, assistance is available in the area of proposal development. Reading "between the lines" of sponsor requirements, proposal editing, and format suggestions are regular activities.

Budgeting Assistance

The initial development and review of any proposed project budget is handled by the Grants Development Office. Budgets are checked against appropriate guidelines for categories such as salaries and stipends, fringe benefit rates, and indirect costs.

Sponsor Contact

Names and telephone numbers of appropriate sponsor staff will be identified and contact urged. The Grants Development Office frequently calls sponsors on behalf of the College and proposed projects.

Duplication Service

Any duplication required in submitting a proposal will be accommodated. Proposals will be copied, collated, properly bound and disseminated as needed.

Postal Services

The Grants Development Office will cover the cost of transmitting the proposal to the potential sponsor, including overnight mail, Federal Express, and/or Certified Mail. We are also responsible for the mailing of the proposal to the potential funding sources.

Administrative Support

Upon being notified of the proposal's approval, the Contracts and Grants Administration Office staff works closely with the Office of the Vice President for Administration to assure the smooth implementation of the grant. Post award services are provided, including, but not limited to: extensions of contract period, line item changes in the budget, contract negotiations, payroll, travel and purchasing, and monitoring of expenditures.

Campus Approval

Before being submitted to a potential funding source, the proposal must have the approval of the Research Foundation's designated campus representative. We will coordinate this process for you.

Forms/Certification

We will type the necessary forms, obtain the required institutional signatures and provide a transmittal letter which indicates campus support for the proposal. We have copies of standard certification forms needed for many federal grants applications.
