SUNY Oneonta Internal Grant Opportunities

When you start writing grants or when you start a new project, it often pays to start small. Look for "seed money" to get the project growing.

The College at Oneonta has a few programs to help people get started.

Faculty Research Grant Program

Download 2009 Guidelines and Fillable Forms  (MSWord)

The purpose of this funding is to support the expense of faculty research activities. Research is defined as investigation that adds to a body of knowledge in a given field. The improvement of instruction is an inherent result of research, but is not considered as meeting the primary qualification of this program. Funding is not for research to be performed by students, for the completion of a dissertation, creative activity, or work that is being completed under a contract for which payment will be received. Awards are made for up to $2,500.

Faculty Creative Activity Grant Program

Download 2009 Guidelines and Fillable Forms (MSWord)

The purpose of this funding is to support creative work conducted by faculty or staff in areas including but not limited to creative writing, music, theater and the visual arts, in order to enhance the presence of arts on campus. Funding is not for creative work done by students, for the completion of a dissertation, or work that is being completed under a contract for which payment will be received. It does not fund curriculum or course development other than that which inherently occurs as the result of creative work. Awards are for up to $1,500.

Student Grant Program for Research and Creative Activity

A major objective of the Committee on Research of the College Senate is to encourage research and creative activity on this campus and to enhance that aspect of the college’s educational mission.  To further this objective, the Committee, with financial support from the State University College at Oneonta Foundation, Inc., sponsors a grant program to support joint student-faculty projects.  One of the program’s main goals is to introduce students to the experience of planning and completing an independent research and/or creative project. The proposed projects should be truly collaborative faculty-student efforts.  The amount of individual awards is limited to $1,500.

W.B. Ford Grants are available in the Spring from the W.B. Ford Committee.

The Teaching Learning and Technology Center (TLTC) offers grants for instructional technology. More information on TLTC Faculty Fellowships and Grants is available on their web site.
