Oneonta's Student Athletes \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Our student-athletes are a group of dedicated individuals who proudly represent not only their sports but the College at Oneonta. Based on a 2003 AOD CORE athletic survey, the majority of student-athletes drink once a week or less during their season.
The Colleges athletic program is comprised of 21 varsity sports consisting or
approximately 400 athletes. Each athlete devotes as much as three hours a day
during the season to practice and competition. In recent
years, the cumulative GPA of athletes was higher than the overall college student body;
many of our teams had over a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Annually, our athletic teams combined to donate over 1000 hours of community service through projects such as Into the Streets.
Athletes are also required to attend yearly
educational programs sponsored by CHAMPS (Challenging Athletes' Minds for Personal Success). Program topics include but are not limited to alcohol, drugs, nutrition, safe sex, career development, and academic excellence
