Mark Rice Ph.D. is the Director of the Counseling Center and a Licensed Psychologist in the state of New York.  He joined the staff in 2000.  Prior to joining the college staff he worked in a variety of mental health settings, including a college counseling center, outpatient substance abuse, community mental health and private practice.  Dr. Rice earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duquesne University and is a licensed psychologist in the State of New York.  His hobbies include hiking, basketball, tennis, guitar and tai chi.  He is also interested in existential and Eastern philosophy.

Melissa Fallon Ph.D.  is the Assistant Director of the Counseling Center. She earned a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University at Albany and is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of New York. She also holds a Master of Arts and a Master of Education degree in counseling psychology from Columbia University Teacher’s College.  She worked as a counselor and researcher in higher education and community mental health prior to joining the staff in 2003. Her professional interests include working with student athletes, GLBTQ populations, body image and gender role issues. She enjoys various sports and is an avid music fan.

Jeanne Keahon, LMSW has a Master's degree in social work from SUNY Albany and is a licensed social worker. She has worked in a variety of mental health, substance abuse, and hospital based settings. She joined the Counseling Center in 1997. Her clinical interests include family systems theory, women's issues and working with international students. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor activities such as hiking and fossil collecting.  She makes the best of our upstate winters by cross country skiing and skijoring with her Siberian Huskies.

Kerry Wagner, LMSW has a Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Alcohol and Other Drugs from the University at Buffalo and is a licensed social worker. She has worked in a variety of higher education, mental health and substance abuse settings including a Fellowship at Yale University. Prior to her arrival to SUNY Oneonta in 2007 she was the Residential Student Social Service Coordinator at Buffalo State College. Her professional interests include working with students with alcohol and other drug issues, depression and anxiety in women, relationship issues and group work. Kerry enjoys playing a variety of sports especially volleyball and rollerblading. She also loves the outdoors, baking, and kicking back and enjoying a good movie!

Amy Clarvoe Ph.D. has a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University at Buffalo. She has worked in a variety of higher education and community mental health settings before joining the staff in 2008. Her professional interests include depression and anxiety, sleep issues, relationship problems, and group work. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs. She loves hiking, biking, and just being outdoors.

Jan Cramatte is the secretary/ receptionist and the initial contact person at the Counseling Center. Jan answers the phone and helps set up an appointments, and  greets students in Room 101 of the Counseling Health and Wellness Building when they come for appointments.  Jan lives in Otego with her Husband G.X. (aka-SUNY Oneonta's Locksmith) and her 17 year old daughter. She likes  watching her daughter play soccer and basketball.  Jan's hobbies include reading, walking her dogs, family time and watching her cats enjoy life!

J. Stephen Byrne, M.A. (Steve) earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boston College and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Marywood University. As a doctoral psychology intern, he is working full-time at the Counseling Center and completing requirements for a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology at Marywood University, Scranton, PA. Prior to joining the staff in 2008, he taught undergraduate psychology courses at Marywood University. Steve has worked with adults, adolescents, families and children in a variety of settings in New York and Pennsylvania. His professional interests include depression, anxiety and stress management, relationship problems and personality. In his free time, Steve enjoys movies, cooking, watching Lost, video games and computers.

Steve Byrne    

Colleen Neumann is a predoctoral intern and a doctoral candidate at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. She earned her BA in Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook in 2002 and her MSW from Stony Brook in 2004. Colleen earned her MA in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in 2006. Colleen has worked in hospital, community, and higher education settings serving clients with a variety of needs. She strives to create a safe environment for self-exploration and expression, and is highly energized by her work with students. Colleen's areas of interest include eating and body image concerns, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, and diversity issues. In her spare time, Colleen enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and just relaxing.
