Message from the College President
Our entire campus community cordially welcomes you as new or returning students to the 2007-2008 academic year.
The opportunity to learn and grow intellectually is the most important focus of your efforts here. Our award-winning faculty will offer you superb instruction in our classrooms, laboratories, studios, and internship experiences. This is what distinguishes Oneonta. We are a teaching institution in which every student has extensive contact with his or her instructors. And our dedicated administrative and support staff stand ready to help you in countless ways in your life outside the classroom.
Make a pledge now to become engaged in your studies, your extra-curricular activities, and your volunteerism. We in turn—all faculty and staff—pledge to help you in turning your hopes and dreams into reality. As Henry Thoreau writes in Walden, “if you have built castles in the air, now put the foundations under them.” Together we will enrich your intellectual and personal development and ensure a bright future for you.
My best for a successful year.
Sincerely,
Alan B. Donovan
Message from the Student Association E-Board
We want to welcome the class of 2011, and welcome back students who are returning to Oneonta.
The Student Association oversees over 70 different clubs that include
Awareness clubs, General Interest clubs, Curricular clubs and everything
in between. There will be a club expo held on September 6th in the Hunt
Union that is a great resource to see what clubs fits what you are looking
for to enhance your experience at Oneonta. These clubs can provide you
with leadership experience, networking, learning, fun and much more.
You may also get involved in the Student Association through our Senate. If you come down to our office, on the ground floor of Hunt Union, we have many different possibilities available for all Student Activities fee paying students (all full time undergraduate students.) You can become a Senator, Supreme Court Justice, or just come to meetings, get involved and advocate for what you want on campus. We would love to see you, and remember that the four years here will fly by, so take advantage of the opportunities while they are in front of you.
If you have questions or concerns throughout the year we are here to answer them. You can stop by the ground floor of Hunt Union, or call us anytime at 607-436-2440.
Sincerely,
Oneonta Student Association Executive Board
Jared Brett Lefkowitz, President
Dean Mc Gowan, Vice-President
Kenny Brenner, Treasurer
