SUNY ONEONTA HISTORIAN TO SPEAK AT WOODSTOCK ARTISTS ASSOCIATION MUSEUM

ONEONTA, N.Y. --  Dr. Randy Angiel of the History Department at the SUNY College at Oneonta will present four pre-concert lectures in a new concert series of music at the Woodstock Artists Association Museum beginning October 30.

Dr. Angiel’s talks will explore the dynamic relationship that music and the arts have on nationalism, war and peace, social movements, and folk traditions. His first presentation, scheduled for October 30, will highlight folk music and its impact on nationalism and the Great War.

The concert series, presented by the ensemble Esopus Musicalia, will include unusually scored works and composers ranging from Ives to Corelli. Graduates of the leading American music conservatories are gathering together under the direction of Juilliard and Yale alumnus and Saugerties resident Nadège Foofat to present the classical repertoire at the Woodstock Artists Association Museum.

The pre-concert lectures will start at 6:30 p.m. and the concerts at 7:30 p.m. More information on the concert series is available by e-mail to EsopusMusicalia@gmail.com.
