ONEONTA, N.Y. -- "LD/ss," an exhibit of large drawings and small sculptures by 16 artists from around the country, will open in the Martin-Mullen Art Gallery in the Fine Arts Building of the SUNY College at Oneonta on Monday, November 3. The gallery will host a reception for the artists on Thursday, November 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission to the gallery and the reception is complimentary, and members of the community are invited to attend.
The exhibit will feature an unusual grouping of large drawings from ten feet tall to small hand-size sculptures. The juxtaposition of unexpected scale for these two artistic disciplines is designed to set up an interesting visual dialogue between the works.
The small sculptures range from the size of a hand to the size of a shoe-box, and they were constructed from a variety of materials including stainless steel, bronze, cast iron, ceramic, marble, and wood. The large drawings, which are from four feet to ten feet tall, were created on paper and plastic with ink, pastel, lithography crayon, charcoal, and mixed media.
The exhibit will feature works by artists Charles Arnoldi, Lynda Benglis, Matthew Chase-Daniel, Chris Duncan, Christi Harrington, David Hooker, Jonathan Kirk, Susan Moore, Ken Price, James Rose, Harry Roseman, Yolanda Sharpe, Kathy Stecko, Michael Wyshock, Phillia Yi, and Jim Zingarelli.
Under the direction of Tim Sheesley, the Martin-Mullen Art Gallery at
