ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY College at Oneonta will offer a summer travel course in 2009 entitled "Greek Art in Context." The course will be taught by Associate Professor of Art Thomas Sakoulas, a native of Greece whose work in stone is inspired by ancient Greek art.
The course, which will take place from June 4 to June 12, is open to members of the community on a credit or non-credit basis. The deadline for registration is February 26.
During the nine-day tour of Greece, participants will explore some of the finest art in the world and experience first-hand the different styles, eras, and techniques of Greek art and architecture from the Bronze Age to the Hellenistic Era. The group will visit the most important archaeological sites and museums of Greece including the citadel of Mycenae, the Acropolis of Athens, the Oracle of Delphi, and the sacred sanctuaries at Olympia and Epidaurus.
