ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Africana and Latino Studies Department of the SUNY College at Oneonta will present a special showing of the documentary film The Black List on Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in the Red Dragon Theater of the Hunt College Union. Admission to the event is complimentary, and members of the community are invited to attend.
Created by Yasir Ansari, Sean Gallagher, and Dan Stalter-- Mass Communication majors at the College--the film examines the events in Oneonta in September 1992, following the release of the names of black SUNY-Oneonta students to the police as part of a criminal investigation. The students who created the film will be at the screening to discuss its making.
The 28-minute film has been accepted for presentation and competition in the Westchester County Film Festival, where it will be screened on March 8.
