ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Hundreds of alumni, their families, and friends of the SUNY College at Oneonta will return to campus for Reunion Weekend 2009 from Friday, June 5, through Sunday, June 7, to join in the celebration of the College's 120th anniversary. In addition to gatherings and athletic competitions, the College's Alumni Association will present its annual awards in recognition of outstanding contributions to the College.

The reunion begins with golf and tennis tournaments during the day on Friday and a 120th anniversary celebration on campus in the evening. On Saturday during a 10:30 a.m. reception in the Hunt Union Ballroom, College President Nancy Kleniewski will welcome guests to the campus, and the 50th Reunion Class of 1959 will be recognized. Saturday's calendar also includes the popular reunion barbecue at the Alumni Field House at noon as well as tours of the campus and the recently renovated Science Building 1.

On Saturday afternoon, President Kleniewski and her husband, Bill Davis, will host a special reception for substantial donors in the atrium of Science Building 1. Later in the afternoon, participants will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Educational Opportunity Program on the SUNY Oneonta campus, and the 50th Reunion Class will gather for a toast at the pillars of Old Main.

Saturday evening will feature the Reunion Weekend Banquet at 6 p.m. in the ballroom of the Hunt College Union. At the banquet, the Alumni Association Awards will honor alumni, friends, and faculty of the College:

• Eileen LaCorte '76 of Latham, President and CEO of LaCorte Companies Inc., will receive the Distinguished Alumna Award.
• Dr. Steven Ackerman '76 of Madison, Wisconsin, Director of the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies and a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
• Dr. William Kaufmann of Los Altos, California, whose gifts endowed the College's Cornell-Gladstone-Hanlon-Kaufmann Lecture on Environmental Education and Communication, will receive the Honorary Alumnus Award.
• Caryl Stern '78 of Bayside, President and Chief Executive Officer of the US Fund for UNICEF, will receive the Outstanding Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion Alumna Award.
• Sonia Rossbach de Frances '59, '71G, of Franklin, Chair of the Membership Committee of the College at Oneonta Foundation Board of Directors and a long-time supporter of the College, will receive the Excellence in Alumni Service Award.
• Dr. Wade Thomas of Oneonta, Associate Dean of Economics and Business, will receive the Current Faculty Outstanding Service Award.
• Jane Forbes Clark of Cooperstown, President of the Clark Foundation and a supporter of the College's Biological Field Station, will receive the Friend of the College Award.
  Jonathan Kaplan '99 of East Brunswick, New Jersey, volunteer Alumni Coordinator for radio station WONY, will receive the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award.

Reunion Weekend 2009 is open to all alumni and friends of the College at Oneonta, as well as to members of the community. Some events require advance registration.
