CAREER GOAL:
Medical school after graduation, followed by a career in medicine.
WHY ONEONTA:
Curtis was looking for an affordable college where he could get to know the faculty and they would get to know him. He found his place at Oneonta.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
Curtis is a member of the Students of Color Coalition and the AALANA Mentor Program. He was recently hired as an Academic Team Member to give guidance on academic matters to his fellow students. In his volunteer work, Curtis serves as assistant basketball coach for the Lighthouse Christian Academy, where he coaches high school students and teaches them how to demonstrate effective teamwork. He has also interned as an assistant coach in the New York Junior Tennis League.
What is your most memorable experience so far?
On my first day on campus, watching my parents pull off after unpacking into my room. I knew then that I’d started a new stage of my life in Oneonta.
What three words summarize your experience at Oneonta?
Exciting, unforgettable, interesting.
What advice do you have for high school students considering Oneonta?
The advice I would give to high school students is to make sure that they hone their time management skills, as they are extremely important in college.
