Faculty Services

The library has a wide range of services for SUNY Oneonta faculty. In particular, faculty members might be interested in:

Library Database training classes
Offered in conjunction with the TLTC, this class is designed for people who want to learn what the Milne Library has to offer though its databases. General and subject specific databases will be covered. In this class you will learn how to see if Milne Library has a database that would contain information for any research question (professional or personal) that you may have as well as how to search some of our larger databases.
Faculty Electronic Delivery Services (FEDS)
Milne Library staff will scan articles and book chapters from any non-circulating material (including reference books, journals, and non-circulating interlibrary loans). Each request is limited to 30 pages. There is no charge for these services.
Electronic Reserves - ERes
Electronic reserves are materials that are in a digital format (PDF files) and are made available on the library's web page through ERes under the "Course Reserves" link. Access to electronic reserves is usually restricted to students enrolled in a specific course because of conditions and fees imposed by the copyright holder. In consultation with instructors specific passwords will be assigned to each course. All passwords will be supplied to students enrolled in a course by their instructor. For more information please call the Circulation office at 436-2720.
ILLiad - Interlibrary Loan
The ILLiad system enables current Oneonta faculty and staff to borrow materials from other libraries. Once logged in using your Oneonta username and password, you will be able to:
-- make online requests for books, periodical articles, and other material from other libraries
-- review the status of your requests
-- check due dates of outstanding loans
-- ask for renewals Click here for more ILLiad information.
Instruction Requests
Faculty can request the services of a librarian to teach students library and Internet research strategies. The instructional sessions are adapted to the needs of a paper, report, or other project assigned in the course.
Library Bibliographers
A Milne librarian is assigned to every academic department at SUNY Oneonta. He or she can help you with any questions regarding the library.
Other services are available: select a service from the column on the left.
