Mission and Vission Statements

It is the mission of the Bibliographic Services Department of Milne library to provide materials to the college's students, faculty, and staff that meet their intellectual and academic needs. This is accomplished by:

• Purchasing books, audiovisual materials, journals and electronic resources in a timely and efficient manner
• Making materials accessible through accurate and thorough cataloging and classification
• Maintaining an accurate public catalog of all library materials
• Maintaining order in several collections for which Bibliographic Services is responsible:  periodicals, clippings, and government documents
• Ensuring print materials are useable by means of repair or binding
• Providing help to library users through service on public desks
• Maintaining office files necessary to support our work
• Continual training of staff to increase proficiency and efficiency in our office procedures and service skills
• Supporting and helping the other staff of the library>

VISION STATEMENT FOR BIBLIOGRAPHIC SERVICES:

To accomplish each of the above components in the best possible way and with the best possible attitude.  For each person in the department to realize the importance of his or her role in each task undertaken and the placement of these tasks within the department and library as a whole.
