reported. Please do not assume that someone else will provide the
information to the SUNY-Shine Committee. If anyone on campus has
information that the SUNY-Shine Committee needs to be aware of, please

have received equipment that cost $1,500 or more, and it has not been

FACULTY/STAFF ACTIVITIES
Cynthia G. Falk, Cooperstown Graduate Program, chaired the session "Ethnic Vernaculars" at the Vernacular Architecture Forum's Annual Meeting in New York City. The meeting, which ran from June 14-17, 2006, included tours of the Lower East Side, the lower Manhattan commercial district, Harlem, and Queens with presentations at City College, CUNY, and Columbia. Falk's session included papers on Italian American Christmas decorations in New York, African American dressed yards in Florida, and tribal centers created by American Indians in communities throughout the United States.
Geoff Hassard, Assistant Director, Athletics/Media Relations, recently served as host for the ECAC Sports Information Director's Association professional development workshop at the Holiday Inn in Oneonta. The workshop, which was attended by 160 sports information and athletics communications professionals from the ECAC membership body, took place June 5 - 9, 2006. Highlights for attendees included a day-long trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Monday to begin the week. The group also attended a buffet dinner at the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Tuesday evening. Wednesday, the College and Hartwick co-sponsored a barbecue at Fortin Park in Oneonta. Panel discussions and table topics covered such areas as running a one-person shop to issues dealing with multi-divisional status and handling crisis situations. College president, Dr. Alan Donovan and Hartwick president, Dr. Richard Miller sat on a panel discussion on Wednesday and were well received by the group, who appreciated the candidness of both in relation to athletics and the mission of both colleges. Hassard just completed his seventh year with the College and has been involved in ECAC-SIDA on various committees in his 12 years in the profession. This is the first time he has ever served as a host for such an event for the organization.
