UUP LABOR DAY CELEBRATION: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
United University Professions (UUP) cordially invites
all segments of the College at Oneonta community and of the larger
Oneonta community to a Labor Day celebration on Monday, September 4, on
the Upper Quad of our campus, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. UUP welcomes
professionals and faculty in our bargaining unit, sisters and brothers
in CSEA and the Teamsters and PEF and Council 82, students, townspeople,
and college administrators to our Labor Day observance. Robert W.
Compton, Political Science, author of several works on global politics,
Academic Vice President of UUP Oneonta, consultant to the Center for
International Development’s Legislative Fellows Program and member of
its SUNY advisory committee, Presiding Officer of the College Senate,
and recipient of Binghamton University’s Delta Award for distinguished
public service, will deliver remarks on “Labor Day, Union Solidarity,
and Community Service.” UUP will serve complimentary refreshments in the
upper quad. Rain or shine, our large tent will feature food and drink,
expressions of solidarity, colorful posters and banners, and the music
of the labor movement. For further information, contact Loraine Tyler, UUP’s director of special events at x3390. Kudos to Loraine for
coordinating this special Labor Day observance. Loraine’s generosity
with her time and talent is much appreciated.
COLLEGE CAMP UPDATE
The College Camp is expected to re-open on
Monday, September 11, 2006.
Reservations are currently being accepted at x3157.
SUMMER & FALL 2006 DINING UPDATE
Dining Service is now available in Hulbert Dining Hall until
Thursday,
August 10. (Please note there will be no service on Friday, August 11.) Wilsbach Dining Hall will open
Monday, August 13 and will continue
service until classes begin. Wilsbach, Hulbert Hall, and Sbarro Italian
Eatery will be closed for lunch on Wednesday, August 23 for the

CHASE GYMNASIUM TO BE CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE - AUGUST 14 & 15
Chase Gymnasium will be unavailable for any use on
Monday and Tuesday,
August 14 - 15. Workers will be repairing and replacing the lights in the
ceiling.
COLLEGE AT ONEONTA NIGHT WITH THE ONEONTA TIGERS - AUGUST 31
Save the date! The College at Oneonta Night with the Oneonta Tigers is
Thursday, August 31 at 7:00 p.m. Rain date: Friday, September 1 at
6:00 p.m. Free admission and prizes. Attendees must have tickets in advance
for free admission. All faculty and staff will be receiving
complimentary tickets. Additional tickets are available in various
campus locations (Office of College Advancement, the Alumni Affairs
Office, the President’s Office, Milne Library, the Morris Conference
Center and the Hunt Union). We will be kicking off the innings with free
prizes. This event is sponsored by the College at Oneonta Public Events
Committee and the Alumni Association for all faculty, staff, students,
area alumni, community members and their families. We hope to see you
there!

you must remove the students name and assign a code name to each paper
you submit. The code name must be not be the students ID number or any
part there of and should only be known to you. Using the students name
or ID number is a violation of the students FERPA rights because you are
releasing personally identifiable information without his/her written

OFF-CAMPUS USE OF COLLEGE OWNED EQUIPMENT
Faculty and staff are reminded that off-campus use of equipment without
appropriate approval is unauthorized. Inquiries regarding the
established approval process for off-campus borrowings should be
directed to Janet Frankl, Milne Library, Room B217, at x3227 (or email:
frankljl@oneonta.edu). Technology Services in IRC has independent
authority to grant approval for equipment under its jurisdiction.
New student arrival & orientation (for those who did not attend summer orientation).
Last day to register. Any student who has not registered by this date will be assessed a $40 Late Registration Fee.
Classes begin. Add/Drop begins on-line and in the Registrar’s Office (Netzer 130).
Add/Drop ends. After this date all schedule adjustments for full semester courses will result in a $20 late fee. “W” grades are assigned for dropping a full semester course after this date. Last day to elect Pass/Fail Grade option. After this date all Individual Course Enrollment, Independent Study, Internship and Teaching Assistantship forms (3 s.h. or more) will result in a $20 late fee. Last day for students with part time enrollment to drop a course with no tuition liability.

3rd Annual "Best Practices In Teaching And
Counseling" Conference
Hunt Union. Geared toward education
undergraduates, graduates, and instructors in elementary, secondary, and
school counseling programs as well as practicing teachers and counselors
and interested others. Workshops include topics related to best teaching
and counseling practices across content areas. Co-sponsored by
SUNY-Oneonta, Division of Education, Alumni Association, Catskill Area
Teacher Center, and New York State English Council.
3rd Annual Celebration Of Teaching.
Plan to
participate in a day of celebrating the art and science of teaching with
colleagues and students this Fall. Faculty and graduate students are
invited to present posters on the theme of engaging students. Submit

Oneonta Tigers Baseball Tickets
Four Oneonta Tigers baseball season
passes, courtesy of the College Foundation, will once again be available
through the President’s Office. Interested employees are requested to
phone the President’s Office at x2500 to reserve tickets. Tickets may
only be reserved during the week of each game(s) on a first-come,
first-served basis. For the sake of others, passes must be returned the
morning after each game.

John (Chemistry & Biochemistry)& Tammi Schaumloffel
Jim Greenberg, Teaching Learning and Technology Center, recently presented at the 2006 Campus Computing Conference on the MIT campus. The title of his presentation is Inter-Campus Faculty Development: A System-wide collaborative approach. Jim has also presented at the SUNY Conference on Instructional Technologies at SUNY Fredonia this summer. The title of his presentation was CIT is Faculty Development Strategies in IT. Both presentations focused on strategies for faculty development programs in information technologies.
