All SUNY-Oneonta full-time, non-tenured faculties are eligible to apply. The deadline for applications is Friday, October 6. A campus-wide mailing of the award criteria has been done. If you did not receive an application, or if you have questions concerning the application, you may contact William Simons, Chair of the Committee, at x3498. EXCUSED MEDICAL LEAVES WITHOUT CHARGE TO ACCRUALS
Over the past several years, new sections have been added to the Civil Service Law entitling New York State employees to a variety of excused leaves without charge to accruals, up to certain maximums. These include leaves for 1) up to four hours of paid leave annually for screening for breast cancer (for males and females); 2) up to 7 days leave to undergo a medical procedure to donate bone marrow and up to 30 days of paid leave to serve as an organ donor; and 3) up to four hours of paid leave annually for screening for prostate cancer. Appropriate medical documentation is required in all cases. If anyone has any questions about this, please contact Human Resources at x2509.

KNOW YOUR GREEKS
There is often confusion about the Greek letter social organizations on campus and how to evaluate them. The recognized Greek letter organizations are those who have an official relationship with the College, have faculty or staff advisors, and meet established standards for academic achievement, philanthropy, and community service. Unrecognized organizations that use Greek letters have no standing on campus or with the national organizations whose letters they use; they function as loosely organized social groups. To help reduce the confusion, the “Know Your Greeks” list is attached to this issue of this Bulletin. If you have questions, phone Angie Eichler, Robb Thibault, or Jeanne Miller.

DEADLINE FOR UUP CONTRACT PROPOSALS - OCTOBER 6
UUP is in the first stages of preparing for contract negotiations. The current contract will expire on June 30, 2007. The contract to be negotiated will set terms and conditions of employment for a four year period. Contract negotiations will take place between UUP and the State of New York. A single contract will encompass all UUP/SUNY campuses. UUP seeks ideas and suggestions from its members for the contract to be negotiated. The statewide UUP leadership will send a survey to all members of the bargaining unit to gather such information.
