CELLULAR ONE REPRESENTATIVE ON EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS - TODAY
The Cellular One employee discount program applies to all new and existing cell phone accounts. Today, Wednesday, June 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., a Cellular One representative will be available in the 1st floor lounge, Netzer Administration Building. We strongly encourage all employees who are existing Cellular One customers to stop by and have the SUNY Oneonta employee discount applied to your personal account. In addition to providing service to existing Cellular One subscribers, the Cellular One representative will be available to answer questions about Cellular One service and/or sign up employees with a new account. If you have any questions about this discount program, please phone the Telecommunications Office at x2577.

SUPPLY ROOM CLOSING FOR INVENTORY
The Supply Room will be closed from Wednesday, June 27, 2007 - Friday, June 29, 2007 in order to conduct annual inventory. The last day for ordering supplies is Tuesday, June 26, 2007.

Joe McMullen, Telecommunications Electrician and CSEA Local President, was recently elected Statewide Treasurer of CSEA. Joe will be leaving the campus after 25 years of dedicated service to the campus community. Please come and join his friends and colleagues at a reception on Thursday, June 7, from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m., at the Morris Conference Center Café, to wish him success in his new position.

MUNCHKIN ALL-SPORT CAMP: JULY 30 - AUGUST 2
The 11th Annual Eastman Associates Munchkin All-Sport Camp is scheduled for Monday, July 30 -Thursday, August 2, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., daily. Open to boys and girls ages 5 - 12, the cost is $60.00 per camper. Soccer, tennis, basketball, kickball, racquetball, t-ball, track and badminton will be offered. Participants will receive a tee shirt donated by Domino's Pizza and The Oneonta Shirt Company. Wachovia Securities will provide a water bottle. Eastman Associates of Oneonta will provide major sponsorship while the College is providing facilities. All proceeds benefit the Women's Soccer Team. FINE ART GALLERY TO FEATURE FACULTY AND STUDENT WORK
“Faculty Select”, an exhibition of faculty and student work, will be on view in the main gallery from June 2 through July 13. Each participating Art faculty has submitted one of their own works along with two of their students’ works to exhibit alongside theirs. The exhibition will be open for special events and by appointment between the hours of 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Please contact the Gallery office @ x3456 to make an appointment to view this exhibit.

MAINTENANCE TO TAKE PLACE IN NETZER: JUNE 25 - JUNE 29
The Maintenance Department HV/AC workers will be in the Netzer Administration Building during the last week of the month, June 25th through 29th, for cleaning and maintaining the heating coils in all of the offices. This will result in some dust and will involve the use of a coil spray which is environmentally safe although some people may be chemically sensitive to it. Please feel free to call the Maintenance Department at x2507 if you have any questions.

4th Annual Red Dragon Basketball Camp
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily, Alumni Field House. Open to boys/girls 6 - 17. Campers receive a camp basketball and t-shirt. Cost is $130.00.

Summer Soccer Camp, National Soccer Hall of Fame.
Two options available: Dragon Camp (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily) for youths 6 to 13/14; and Elite Camp (9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily), for high school players only. Open to boys/girls. Cost is $125.00 per week, (reduced rate of $115.00 for college employees).   • Educational Opportunity Program - EOP Counselor: The SUNY College at Oneonta is seeking a full-time EOP Counselor with special emphasis on Recruitment and Admissions. This is a one-year appointment with potential to be continued. Duties: Principal role in review of EOP Admission applications; plan, implement and document recruitment initiatives for underrepresented students; working relationship with Office of Admissions; initiate research and gather data related to admission/retention; coordination of a residential component for the pre-freshman summer bridge program; provide academic advisement, personal counseling, and crisis intervention for diverse student population. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; one year minimum experience in college admissions or equivalent; effective professional communication and data management skills; eligibility for a valid driver’s license acceptable in NYS; experience in student retention, personal adjustment counseling and crisis intervention or in needs assessment for diverse student groups. Preferred: Master’s degree in higher education administration or related field. We are looking for goal oriented, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals who like to talk on the phone. Responsibilities include updating alumni records and raising charitable donations to support scholarships, the Milne Library, cultural and educational programs, faculty/student research, campus beautification projects, and more! FACULTY/STAFF ACTIVITIES
  • Hanfu Mi, Jane Miller, Alison Black, Krislynn Dengler, and Cindy Lassonde, Elementary Education and Reading, presented results from their collaborative study of teacher candidates' writing at the 52nd Annual International Reading Association Convention in Toronto, Canada, on May 15-16, 2007. The study followed a cohort of teacher candidates through three sequenced literacy courses to determine how their writing skills and attitudes were influenced by the curriculum, instruction, and self-perceptions. An analysis of candidates' work was featured in a ticketed symposia entitled "Writing teachers are teachers who write: The developing technical, reflective, and creative writing lives of preservice teachers." The following day Mi, Miller, Black, Dengler, and Lassonde also presented their research design and instruments for the study at a research poster session.
