In an effort to support a greener New York and to help state employees save money, beginning July 2, 2008 for the October 2008 benefit month, NYS-Ride is being expanded to all New York State employees. This program does not reimburse your public transportation costs but does allow for qualifying expenses to be deducted from your paycheck on a pretax basis. Some carriers in this area include Oneonta Public Transport (OPT), Broome County Transit, Chenango County Public Transit, T-Tran, Adirondack Trailways, and Amtrak North East. Online enrollment begins July 2, 2008. Check your campus mail for an informational flyer and an optional NYS-Ride Employee Information Meeting Schedule. COURSE EVALUATIONS GOING ELECTRONIC
Data for the Student Perception of Instruction (SPI) course evaluation process will be collected via Angel this summer. All registered students have access to their courses via Angel regardless of whether or not a faculty member uses this resource. For this summer, students will receive periodic notices directing them to Angel to evaluate their courses. The system will be available for course evaluation for the last few days of each summer session. This is a piloting of this method for course evaluation. It addresses the need to provide an evaluative method for the growing number of on-line courses, as well as moves the process to a more efficient and cost effective approach to evaluation. Please encourage your students to participate in this process. Faculty wishing to use the traditional paper evaluation process may obtain materials from their respective department offices. Any questions should be directed to Steve Johnson at x3592; johnsosd.
